Testimonials
“Our child went to Sweet Clover the past two years (and we'd still be there if it weren't time to start elementary school). We have all been through a lot together in that time span, and despite all of the challenges 2020 and beyond posed, our family could always count on Teacher Lisa's unwavering commitment to the children and families in her care. Lisa has created the most beautiful, nurturing, creative, and conscientious space for children to grow and thrive. We just don't know what we would have done without Sweet Clover and we cannot recommend Lisa or her school enough.”

“If you are looking for a fantastic small preschool for your 2-5 yo in N. Portland neighborhood I highly recommend Sweet Clover! Lisa is a gem, the teachers are incredible, loving and creative and give such incredible attention to student-directed topics, artistic expression and thematic-based learning about the earth! Sad our kiddo is moving on to kindergarten but so grateful he had this incredibly warm, small, play-based experience of school.”

“I am grandmother to two girls who have attended Sweet Clover Preschool from age three until kindergarten. Under owner & early childhood specialist, Lisa and her staff, the girls thrived and loved attending this very special preschool which focuses on Science, Music, and Art. They learned about the natural world through hands-on gardening and science-based projects, from map-making to all manner of creative art projects. They gained early reading and math skills which they apply to cooking and even making their own books. I have seen first-hand how these children listen to and treat one another and their teachers with respect, care, and curiosity. At the school, the children are referred to by name and as “friends” and the atmosphere is fun and always inspiring. The results of their education and experiences at Sweet Clover in their early formative years have made the time with our grandchildren in our own home even more sweet and special. This Preschool is a treasure.”

About Me:
Lisa Krause/Owner & Lead Teacher
Hello, I am Lisa Krause, owner and lead guide at Sweet Clover Preschool. I have worked for 20+ years in Early Childhood Education and also as a Private Music tutor focusing on Guitar, Piano, and Music Theory. In opening Sweet Clover, I am committed to serve Portland families by opening this Music, Art, and Science focused Preschool.
In 20+ years of experience as a Preschool Teacher in my hometown of Portland, Oregon, I’ve noticed a great need for reasonably priced, high-quality Preschools and know that many families experience high tuition rates and long waitlists for the best programs available to meet their needs and do the important job of readying their children for entry into grade school. I have had the opportunity to teach in several different ECE teaching styles (Montessori, Waldorf, Reggio Emilia) and I am ready to offer families a mix of innovative and traditional practices at Sweet Clover Preschool.
